Replace Missing Teeth With Dental Implant Dentures

Have you experienced teeth loss and are now exploring the choices available to you? Numerous solutions exist for replacing an absent tooth or missing teeth, and dental implants are among the possibilities.

At Centre Dentaire Sourire Concept, our skilled dentists are experts in implantology. This dental specialty is becoming increasingly popular with patients who wish to improve their smile.

A Process That Requires Meticulousness and Precision

Dental implant surgery is a complex procedure that requires proper recovery time between each step. Therefore, it is essential to be patient and allow several months before seeing the final result.

Not only are the results worthwhile, there are also several key advantages to dental implants:

  • A lasting solution: With proper maintenance, an implant can last for several decades. However, factors such as oral hygiene and overall health can influence the longevity of your implants.
  • Reduced discomfort: Many individuals dread the thought of this procedure, even when it will be beneficial. Interestingly, the pain associated with wisdom tooth extraction is often greater than the process of getting dental implants.
  • Improved aesthetic: The artificial tooth placed on a dental implant denture looks very much like a natural tooth. This helps keep your smile unaffected.
  • Bone preservation: Implants help slow down the process of physiological bone loss, especially when a tooth is lost.

Dental implants can also be used to replace dentures. They’re an effective way to benefit from the advantages of an implant and a beautiful smile, while still having a removable prosthesis.

Visiting the Dentist and Taking Photos

First, the dentist will perform a complete examination of the mouth, jaws, and head. X-rays will be taken to establish a treatment plan. Depending on the number of teeth to be replaced, they will determine the number of implants required and outline the next steps.

Prior to placing the implant, your dentist will check if there is adequate bone and gum tissue. Otherwise, placement of the removable dentures may not be feasible.

If any additional action is required, your dentist will inform you and incorporate it into the treatment plan. However, a delay must be allowed in the process, since complete healing is required to proceed.

Implant Placement

Under local anaesthetic, your dental surgeon will proceed to install the implant into your jawbone. It will serve as an artificial root for the subsequent attachment of a tooth, bridge, dental crown, or prosthesis. During the recovery period of three to six months, the implant will bond with the bone and remain in place for several years.

After the previous step has completely healed, it’s time to affix the abutment to the implant. The abutment serves as the connector between the artificial tooth and the implant. In certain cases, the dentist can carry out this procedure simultaneously with the previous step.

Final Placement and Adjustments

During a follow-up appointment, the dentist will proceed to the placement of the new tooth onto the abutment. Our goal is to reach a result that meets your expectations, while also ensuring your comfort. Certain adjustments may also be required.
